On this 6-day trip for adults we shall escape civilisation for a while, travelling through beautiful landscape, sleeping in wild camps and gathering wild food to help feed ourselves as we move. The location of this trip is to be confirmed: either Pembrokeshire, Dartmoor or the Lake District.

If you yearn for an immersive, embodied experience in nature, to not only encounter stunning scenery but to also interact with the land deeply, then this is for you. It’s so easy for us adults to find that the adventure has been lacking a bit recently; the only answer is to jump into something. This is not the only option, but it’s a good one.

This expedition will combine foraging, bushcraft, hillcraft and navigation, and whatever other dynamics we fellow travellers bring into the group, or the group brings out in us.

We have chosen mid-September for this trip. Early autumn is an evocative and sensory time of the year – amazing for walking, ideal for foraging. A good adventure can be perfect at a time of change.

Chris Packe, a bushcraft instructor and hill guide, and Fergus Drennan, an expert forager and wild food chef, are getting together and putting all they have learned into a fun, challenging and engaging journey for those experiencing a bit of wanderlust.

We shall travel lightly, sleeping in wild camps with bivvy bags (rather than heavy, cumbersome tents). We shall take food, but we shall leave gaps in what we take in order to bring in a foraging element that is meaningful but not impossible. This will bring a unique flavour to the trip in many senses.

Our aim is to bring together the best of an epic walking trip and a hands-on foraging experience, traversing the landscape from peak to lake, from forest to fell, learning how to manage and rely on ourselves as we go.
